MEMBERS OF KITUI COUNTY ASSEMBLY SIGN INTEGRITY CODE
The Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC) conducted a workshop for the County Assembly of Kitui from 17th -19th October 2016 in Naivasha. The workshop was aimed at helping the County Assembly to implement their Specific Leadership and Integrity Code which had been published in the Kenya Gazette on 14th October 2016 as required by law.
The workshop was part of the ongoing engagement of EACC with county governments to implement chapter six of the constitution. The workshop was opened by the Commissions Deputy Secretary/CEO Mr. Michael Mubea.
Mr. Mubea observed that the Commission has received allegations of corruption and unethical practices in the county and urged the members of County Assembly to exercise their oversight mandate actively to ensure that corruption and or unethical conduct are not tolerated. He also commended the County Assembly for taking keen interest in implementation of the Leadership and Integrity Act. At the end of the workshop, the Members of the County Assembly signed and committed themselves to the Specific Leadership and Integrity Code.
