Morocco to support EACC in Fostering Linkages with its Law Enforcement Agencies
26:09:19: The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), Chairman Archbishop (Rtd) Eliud Wabukala and the CEO Mr. Twalib Mbarak have received H.E. Dr. EL Mokhtar Ghambou, the Moroccan Ambassador to Kenya on a courtesy call visit to the Commission and the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Mr. Noordin Haji.
The discussion aimed at enhancing the anti-corruption discourse touched on various issues:
- Strengthening bilateral cooperation between the EACC, ODPP and the Moroccan law enforcement agencies.
- Enhancing capacity of agencies through peer to peer learning (trainings).
- Sharing of information and best practices on ethics and governance.
Mr. Mbarak acknowledged the importance of strategic bilateral relations between the Commission, ODPP and peer agencies in foreign countries due to the transboundary nature of corruption and economic crimes.
The ambassador assured the Commission of his country’s support in fostering linkages with law enforcement agencies in Morocco.
The CEO recognized that Kenya and Morocco share significant similarities due to their strategic location in the North and East of Africa. “The two countries act as a gateway to the respective regions and as result have greatly contributed and influenced the social, economic and political development of the two regions. Despite our diversity in
culture, language and governance structures, we recognize corruption as a common threat to achieving the aspirations and prosperity of our nations”, said Mr. Mbarak.
